I (she/her) am a labour market & welfare state researcher and Professor of Sociology and Social Policy, at the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, University of Kent, UK and the author of the book The Flexibility Paradox: why flexible working leads to (self-) exploitation, (Policy Press)

My research interest lies in examining different labour market patterns and outcomes across European welfare states, focusing mostly on gender inequalities, flexibility at work, work-life balance, division of unpaid work/care including the mental load, and job/employment insecurity. Check out my recent publications here, my recent projects here, and some of my media appearances here

I am the co-editor of the new Policy Press Book series Research in Comparative and Global Social Policy, on the editorial board for the journals Gender & Society,  Social Policy & Administration, Journal of Korean Welfare State and Social Policy (JKWS), on the executive board of the European Social Policy analysis network, and the co-lead of the WFRN special interest group Economic and Public Policy, a member of the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Awards committee... and I am a mom of a 11 ten year old, a tuxedo cat, and a Bulgarian rescue dog,  a partner to a software engineer/musician. I used to play bass in an feminist punk band, play football/futsal in a old-bags women's vet club, and coach U11 girls' football  team.
